‘The Living Earth’ Continues

The Living Earth is well underway at The Scottish Gallery – “a heartfelt celebration of her deep connection with the natural world.”

Huge gratitude to all those who’ve visited so far, I’m truly delighted by the positive reception. The show continues until 28th June. Last week I could be found painting in The Gallery garden – see some images below. I’ll next be there on the 27th for a coffee morning and painting demo – details below. Throughout, I’ll share updates on my Instagram.

...a joyful, spontaneous ode to place and moment, distilled through experimental vision; this is artwork born in the land, nourished by wind and waves, sunshine and rain. These poetic paintings are a testament to Pascale’s dedication to capturing not just the physical soil of the living earth, but the soul of the Scottish landscape.

Working directly in the landscape, Pascale Rentsch embraces the weather, light, and spontaneity of painting outdoors. Her expressive marks capture not just the appearance of a place, but its emotional resonance – the feeling of standing in the wind, of rain on paper, of light flickering through gorse. Her practice is a deeply personal and poetic one, rooted in observation, connection, and care.

Her paintings are intimate visual diaries, recording moments of stillness, encounters with nature, and the small glimmers of hope and beauty that can be found in everyday landscapes. This exhibition brings together work made across Scotland including East Lothian, the Isle of Islay, and Luing – locations rich in memory, meaning, and wild natural beauty.
